Adam Levine Is Leaving ‘The Voice’ After 16 Seasons, Gwen Stefani Replacing Him

Adam Levine on The Voice

Adam Levine is officially leaving NBC’s The Voice after 16 seasons as a judge and mentor on the show. The Maroon 5 frontman has decided to leave the show that has brought him into viewers’ homes on a weekly basis, and struck up his epic bromance with fellow judge, Blake Shelton.

The Voice‘s host, Carson Daly, announced the news of Adam Levine’s departure from the reality TV singing series during The Today Show on Friday morning.

“Adam is one of the original coaches that launched the show, winning the competition three times and inspiring many of the artists that he worked so closely with. Many viewers will miss his frenemy relationship with Blake Shelton. He will always be a cherished member of the Voice family and of course we wish him nothing but the best,” Daly said of Levine’s exit.

Meanwhile, while fans will be sad to lose Adam as a judge, an old favorite will return to take his place on the panel, as well as add a bit of romance to the show.

Gwen Stefani is officially coming back to sit in the big red chair next to her boyfriend and fellow judge, Blake Shelton. Gwen and Blake met on the set of the show years ago when she was first hired as a judge.

Since that time, Gwen and Blake have been nearly inseparable. The couple have been going strong and have even sparked wedding and baby rumors.

The pair met at a time when they were both going through messy, public divorces. Gwen was ending her long marriage with singer Gavin Rossdale, while Blake and his country music star wife, Miranda Lambert, were going through a painful split.

The duo hit it off and the rest is history. They’ll now return to TV together as co-judges on The Voice, and fans couldn’t be more excited to see them back together again.

Blake and Gwen will both return for a new season with judges Kelly Clarkson and John Legend. There has been a revolving door of judges on the show, Shakira, Usher, Pharell Williams, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, and more. However, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine have been the only constants.

Sadly now that Adam is leaving the series, Blake will be the only original judge left, which could possibly give him an edge over the other judges, especially since his teams have won so much in the past.
