Sources tell the outlet that the past week had been a bad one for the musician after it was discovered that his throat cancer had moved into his other organs, including his brain.
The rocker had been undergoing radiation treatment for the latest few years, but continued to tour with his band despite being ill. Eddie’s cancer may have been caused by his longtime smoking habit, but he also thought that the metal guitar pick that he used to hold in his mouth on stage for over 20 years may have caused the disease.
Eddie’s former wife, Valerie Bertinelli didn’t immediately make a statement about her ex’s death. However, she did retweet a heartbreaking message written by their son, Wolfgang, following his passing.
