The Portuguese Football Federation made the announcement of Ronaldo’s positive test on Tuesday, October 13, revealing that he was feeling well and asymptomatic at the current time.
The news means that Ronaldo will have to miss Portugal’s UEFA Nation’s game on Wednesday against Sweden. He may also have to miss a game against Crotone on Saturday, and a match against Dynamo Kiev next week.
On Monday night, the athlete shared a photo of himself having a mask-less dinner with his teammates. The rest of Ronaldo’s team was also tested for Covid-19, but all of there tests have come back negative.
“Ronaldo is doing great. He is dealing very well with this,” Portugal coach Fernando Santos said. “He is asymptomatic, he has no problems. He doesn’t even know how this happened to him,” per The Associated Press.
Other athletes who have been diagnosed with coronavirus
Of course, the superstar is just one of many athletes who have dealt with the virus.
NFL stars including Cam Newton, Ezekiel Elliot, Kareem Jackson, and Vonn Miller have also dealt with Covid. NBA players such as Rudy Gobert, Kevin Durant, Donovan Mitchell, and Marcus Smart have also been diagnosed. The MLB also took a hard hit during their shortened 60-game regular season, with multiple games being rescheduled due to breakouts within organizations such as The Miami Marlins.

For now, Cristiano Ronaldo’s fans are taking to social media to send him well wishes.

“Best wishes to @Cristiano for his swift recovery from Covid-19. You’re a strong warrior, we’re extremely hopeful that you’ll overcome this as well. Get better, we’re waiting to see you in the ground again,” a fourth person quipped.
At the time of publication Ronaldo has not spoken out about his Covid-19 diagnosis.
