Mary Tyler Moore dead are the headlines all around the internet today. The beloved television icon and acting legend sadly passed away at the age of 80 on Wednesday. Moore, the star of hit series’ such as “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” was said to be in failing health before dying while being treated at a hospital. Moore’s rep, Mara Buxbaum revealed in a statement to The Huffington Post.
“Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine. A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile.”

Mary Tyler Moore was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1936 and later moved to Los Angeles. She rose to fame playing the role of Laura Petrie, opposite Van Dyke. She later landed her very own sitcom titled “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” which was the very first to feature a never-married, working woman as the lead character. Mary played a groundbreaking 30-year-old new producer. During the show’s run, Mary was seen asking for equal pay as her male counterparts, as well as tackling the subject of birth control. The show is a classic, and will go down as one of the best in television history.
In addition to her lucrative television career, Mary Tyler Moore also starred in movies such as “Ordinary People,” “Flirting With Disaster,” “Just Between Friends,” and “Six Weeks.” She will be missed by her many friends, family members, and fans, and remembered as one of acting’s greatest.
