Nina Dobrev is returning to ‘The Vampire Diaries’ as Elena Gilbert.
Nina Dobrev is officially confirming that she’s set to return to “The Vampire Diaries” for the show’s series finale. Dobrev, who played central character Elena Gilbert for six seasons, decided to leave the show, but writers left the character open for a comeback, which is exactly what is going to happen.
Nina Dobrev announced the big news via her Instagram account, but posting a photo of her “Vampire Diaries” script, and captioning the snapshot, “I know it’s Thursday, but this is not a TBT,” she wrote, adding the hashtags, “#BackOnSet #TVDForever.”
The photo also revealed that “The Vampire Diaries” series finale is titled “I Was Feeling Epic,” and that co-creators of the show, Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson wrote the final episodes together. Plec is set to direct the final show, and fans couldn’t be more excited that Nina Dobrev is returning to (hopefully) bring closure to her character, and Elena’s relationship with Damon.
How will Elena return to Mystic Falls?
“I’m thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended – with Nina back to help us say goodbye,” Julie Plec said in a statement. Kevin Williamson added, “I’m so excited to have Nina back to ensure our farewell episode is truly epic!”
