Demi Lovato is off to rehab for a 90-day stint following her shocking and near-deadly drug overdose, and her ex-Wilmer Valderrama may have been the one to save her life according to Hollywood Life reports.

Reports reveal that Lovato was pushed into rehab by the former “That 70s Show” star during his numerous daily visits to Cedars Sinai Medical Center during Demi’s scary two-week hospital stay. Valderrama and Lovato dated seriously from 2010 -2016 when they split. It has been no secret that Demi and Wilmer have remained very close since their break up, and consider each other the love of their lives.

Joining forces with Demi’s mom, Wilmer has been the main key in convincing Demi to go to rehab. As previously reported, Demi Lovato was released from the hospital following a near-death experience with those closest to Lovato laying down a major ultimatum. As far as Demi’s family, friends and loved ones are concerned its go to rehab, or lose a lot of the people she cares for most in this world. One of those very important people being Wilmer Valderrama.

“Demi’s mom and Wilmer have been instrumental in pushing Demi to go to rehab, but ultimately, it’s totally been her decision, because nobody can force her to go, it has to be her choice. Demi knows that she is an addict, and that if she doesn’t get treatment and if she doesn’t get sober, then she will die. And Demi doesn’t want to die, she wants to live –and she has a lot to live for,” a source close to the singer, 25, told HL.

On August 5th Demi posted an open letter on Twitter stating, “I want to thank my family, my team, and the staff at Cedars-Sinai who have been by my side this entire time. Without them I wouldn’t be here writing this letter to all of you.

“What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet. I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side,” she
continued. “I will keep fighting.”

Back in 2015, a love letter posted by Demi Lovato to Wilmer Valderrama crediting his love and dedication to her for her three-sobriety went viral. Fans were shocked when the former couple announced their split in 2016 following their long relationship. Many believed that Demi and Wilmer would eventually reunite, however they never dreamed that the pair would come together in such a tragic way.

Lovato’s family and fans are pulling for her recovery and sobriety and hoping that following Demi’s rehab stay, perhaps, she and Wilmer Valderrama may decide that they are actually meant to be and settle into a stable and loving relationship once and for all.
