Matthew Perry is reportedly resting comfortably in a Los Angeles hospital after undergoing gastrointestinal perforation surgery according to ENews.

The “Friends ” star’s rep stated that Perry is “grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals.” Celebrity news broke today revealing conflicting headline reports stating that Matthew Perry was rushed to the hospital and per Radar Online was on ‘death’s door.’

However, multiple celebrity news sites including ENews, People, and TMZ have all reported a lesser, scary headline. The sites all confirm that while Perry did undergo surgery, he was reported on the mend. Mayo Clinic states that a gastrointestinal perforation occurs when a hole develops in the lining of the throat to the rectum and can be caused by appendicitis, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s Disease.

At this time it details of what may have caused Matthew Perry’s health trauma have not been revealed. However, it has been speculated that
Perry’s struggles with alcohol abuse could have played a factor.

In 2015, the actor spoke out publicly about his struggles with alcohol abuse. He has since opened his own sober-living facility, Perry House in order to aid others struggling with alcohol addiction. The 48-year-old actor best known as Chandler Bing on the long-running sitcom “Friends” stated that he knows “getting sober is a really hard thing to do” and wanted to help others with their ongoing battles.

Radar Online, however, has painted a darker story surrounding Matthew Perry’s surgery. The site claims a source close to Perry revealed that he had been rushed to the hospital, and into surgery undergoing a tracheostomy. The same nameless source reportedly stated he was then transferred to the ICU revealing, “He was in bad shape, and only recently has shown signs of improvement,” a source told Radar. “But he’s still not well.”
