Ahsoka Tano with her white lightsabers

Ahsoka Series: When Does It Take Place?

With the new Ahsoka series right around the corner, many Star Wars fans are asking one question. When does this show take place? Star Wars Celebration 2023 officially announced the Ahsoka series and that it would be released in August. The show is set to follow Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren in what has been said to be a continuation of Star Wars Rebels. A lot of characters will be making a return such as Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, and Grand Admiral Thrawn.

What Year Will The Show Take Place?

Ahsoka Tano made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian Season 2. The timeline is not well known for these years in Star Wars, unfortunately. We do know that The Mandalorian began five years after Return Of The Jedi. ROTJ took place about 4 ABY. That would mean that Mando Season 2 where Ahsoka made her live-action debut would have been in the year 10 ABY. ABY means After The Battle Of Yavin (A New Hope). The Ahsoka series will be set a few years after Mando Season 2.

According to ScreenRant.com, Star Wars has not confirmed a specific year for this show but 12 ABY would sound about right. It is also unknown if the events of The Mandalorian Season 3 and Ahsoka will overlap. Ahsoka could easily take place right before or right after Mando Season 3. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have said very few words about the time between The Book Of Boba Fett and Mando Season 3.

Even with the unclear information, it is very likely that the Ahsoka series is taking place less than 10 years after the fall of the Empire. We can look at the trailer to try and figure out the state of the galaxy during Ahsoka. We can see Mon Mothma on a Holo-call at the beginning. This could mean that the New Republic is still setting up its government. With Mothma being the Chancellor of the New Republic still, it could mean that Ahsoka is taking place within the first 10 years of the new government.

An Uncharted Time In Star Wars History

No exact year has been confirmed as of right now, but it will be somewhere close to 10 ABY. For right now we’ll just have to continue waiting for more information. The Ahsoka series is set to release in late August 2023 on Disney Plus. it is sure to have plenty of action and plenty of new lore for a mostly uncharted time in the Star Wars Galaxy.
