Grand Admiral Thrawn

With the latest Star Wars series being two episodes deep, many may wonder who Grand Admiral Thrawn is. Thrawn’s name has been dropped multiple times in the first two episodes. He was even mentioned in the opening text crawl. Thrawn was most popularly seen in the animated show Star Wars Rebels. He was also the main antagonist in a book series, but unfortunately, that is no longer considered canon. Thrawn will be making his live-action debut in the Ahsoka series.

Thrawn’s Imperial Ties

Who is Thrawn? Many casual fans may not know about the cunning Admiral. Luckily Hollywood News Daily is here to inform you. Thrawn served the Galactic Empire as one of very few Grand Admirals. This means that he is very close to Emperor Palpatine and is in his inner circle. That is a very tough place to get into. Thrawn’s battle tactics and his ingenious plans served him very well. Thrawn was a major player in the Empire’s fight against the young rebellion.

With that being said, how does Thrawn tie into the Ahsoka series? Ahsoka makes appearances in Star Wars Rebels as well as Thrawn. The Grand Admiral is one of the biggest threats to the budding rebellion. A small group of freedom fighters called the Specter Cell. Based on the planet Lothal. This cell included two Jedi in Kanon Jarrus and Ezra Bridger, a Mandalorian in Sabine Wren, a male Lasat named Zeb, a droid named Chopper, and a female Twi’lek pilot named Hera Syndulla.

Ahsoka Series Connections

You will recognize most of these names as characters who are also in Ahsoka. You should pay close attention to Ezra Bridger. Why is Ezra so important to the Ahsoka series characters? Ezra was able to best Thrawn during the Battle Of Lothal. Sneaking aboard his hip and launching it into hyperspace to an unknown location. Now nobody knows where the Grand Admiral or the young Jedi is.

It seems like they are outside the galaxy that Star Wars takes place in. Now Sabine, Hera, and Ahsoka are looking for Ezra Bridger and Thrawn. The capture of Thrawn will prevent yet another war as the Imperial remanence sees Thrawn as their next leader. Finding Ezra is more of a personal mission for the former rebels. Will Ahsoka be able to find them both? Only time will tell as we all await Ahsoka episode three. Watch the Ahsoka series streaming every Tuesday on Disney Plus.
