An Alabama mom got an enormous baby shock this week when she welcomed her first child weeks before she was scheduled to deliver. However, the baby coming early wasn’t the surprising part of her labor and delivery journey. Instead, Pamela Mann, a delivery driver from Birmingham, was stunned to find out that her newborn daughter, Paris Halo, was twice the size of an average baby. Even the nurses were said to be stunned by the size of the child.

Pamela Mann opened up about the baby bustle during an interview with TODAY. The new mom confirmed that she welcomed baby Paris via c-section, and when she came into the world, the doctors and nurses were stunned by her size, as she weighed in at 13 pounds, 4 ounces. Since the average size of a newborn baby is around 7 pounds, there was a definite surprise in the delivery room.

“The doctor pulls her out of me and all the nurses are like “Oh God!” Pamela Mann shared. “I started freaking out because I had no idea what was happening. I thought 13 pounds was normal. This is my first child, so I had no idea,” Mann confessed. “And the nurses are going, ‘No. No. No. She is big.'”

Now, everyone is gushing over baby Paris at the Alabama Grand View Medical Center where she was born on March 4.

“Nurses are making special trips just so they can see how big she is. “She’s only 3 days old and she’s already very well-known,” Mann revealed. “She’s getting a little extra love and care, but she’s doing great.”

Meanwhile, Pamela and her family are already fielding nicknames for baby Paris. They’ve been told that monikers like Big Mama, Star, and Park Chop have all been mentioned. The baby girl is set to be released from the hospital later this week, and it seems she’s already made a splash in the world.

Meanwhile, Pamela Mann’s enormous baby may have been a shock, but it’s far from the world record. The heaviest baby to ever survive infancy clocked in at 22 pounds, 8 ounces back in 1955. Recently, a woman named Joy Buckley gave birth to a little girl who weighed 15 pounds, 5 ounce back in 2019.
