Alex Rodriguez Retiring After 2017 Season

Alex Rodriguez made the big announcement of his retirement on Wednesday and revealed to fans that he would be leaving the Yankees at the end of the next season, meaning he’ll play two more seasons in New York. This should give A-Rod fans plenty of time to adjust to the fact that he’s retiring and the team to plan ahead for life after Alex.

“I won’t play after next year,” Rodriguez told  ESPN on Wednesday. “I’ve really enjoyed my time. For me, it is time for me to go home and be dad.” A-Rod has two young daughters, Natasha, 11, and Ella, 7, with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.

A-Rod Retiring Means New Era In New York Yankees Baseball

Alex Rodriguez’s career as a New York Yankee has been impressive. A-Rod will begin the 2016 season with 687 home runs, and if he can average 14 home runs in his last two seasons he’ll pass the iconic Babe Ruth on the all-time list, which would be incredibly huge and a great way for Alex to end his career.

Now that A-Rod has announced he’s retiring New York Yankees fans are at a loss. They lost The Captain, Derek Jeter during the 2014 season and now that Alex Rodriguez plans to retire it seems Yankees fans are looking ahead to a whole new era in NY baseball, here’s hoping that Alex’s last years in the league will be fun to watch!
