After a long wait, HBO has finally shown a first look at the TV adaptation of The Last Of Us. A true master of a video game Naughty Dogs won the game of the year award in 2013 when it was released and has now been remastered, had a sequel, and is now getting a remake that is set to release this year.
Thanks to a Sizzle Reel that showed off many projects fans finally got to take a look at The Last Of Us staring Star Wars: The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal (via CBR). Meanwhile, Pascal has not been on set for Mando season three filming as he has been working on the HBO series.
In the Sizzle Reel, fans got to see many upcoming shows such as the Game Of Thrones prequel ‘House Of The Dragon’, The Idol, and Tokyo Vice but video game adaptation was by far the most extensive preview showing Joel and Ellie who will be the two main characters as well as some other survivors. The reel can be watched via Twitter as you can see linked.
Many fans are excited
The Last Of Us has been very highly anticipated since news broke it was getting a live-action television show. Fans of the games have been waiting for new content since The Last Of Us Part 2 was released on June 19th, 2020.
The trailer seems to promise some perfect game-to-TV adaptations as in the preview you can hear Joel’s famous line “You don’t know what it’s like to lose someone” as well as Pedro Pascal seems to be the perfect fit to play Joel.
Much has to be said about the show’s visual style as it seems very dark and most unlike the games’ perfectly lit cutscenes and beautiful surroundings as nature is slowly taking back everything humanity has built.
Will The Last Of Us be true to the game?
With this preview, fans seem very pleased with how the show looks so far but we will have to wait until sometime next year to see the actual episodes of the show as that is when it will be released. It feels like a long wait but hopefully, it will all be worth it in the end and we get a great series out of it.
But for now, we will have to wait and it should be very interesting to see what the show will look like as we get more updates and trailers for the TV adaptation of The Last Of Us that will be streaming on HBO Max sometime next year.
