Apex Legends is a popular battle royal game that took the gaming world by storm back in February of 2019. The game has players pick from a certain number of different characters that they call Legends and they each have their own unique abilities.

Players then proceed to be dropped in a large arena in teams of three and fight to the death with the last team standing being declared the Apex Champions.

With the launch of season 14 last month there must be some celebrations going on at Respawn Entertainment as Apex Legends continues its steady climb of average players. With the new season came a new Legend called Vantage who is a marksman.

Changed the ranked system again

Respawn also reverted the changes made to the ranked play which seems to have been enough to draw back all the players that quit due to those changes last season.

Last month Apex Legends saw a new peak player count of 511,676 concurrent players, an approximately 47% increase over the prior month. Apex Legends has also seen an improvement in daily players as the game now sees an average of over 300,000 players at any given time with 329,041 in August.

Apex Legends seems to be gaining more and more popularity as the game continues to age and that is shown by the recent number of new players.

This surge of new players could be related to the changes in the game’s ranked system being reverted back to how they were before the changes that season 13 brought. The season 13 changes were very much disliked by many of the community and caused a lot of players to stop playing the game altogether.

The game is also doing away with the self-revive that it famously introduced to the battle royal category after many complaints from the players.

What caused this surge of new players?

Are these changes the reason for the game’s recent uproar? Or is it just a coincidence? Apex Legends has always been popular ever since it was released in 2019. The game does great on Twitch and the tournaments are always fun to watch.

Apex Legends is a staple in competitive games and E-sports and hopefully, it can remain that way for a long time to come. It will be very interesting to see where Apex Legends heads as we draw near the end of season 14. What new maps, weapons, and legends will be introduced in the coming seasons? Only time will give us these answers.
