April the Giraffe fever is going on once again as giraffe lovers from around the globe are keeping watch awaiting the birth of April’s next calf at the Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, NY.
At this moment more than 30,000 people are logged on at the Animal Adventure Park’s Live Cam on YouTube keeping close eyes on April the Giraffe’s progress. Keepers at the park have been updating the official Facebook page every evening alerting fans of April’s progress during her fifth pregnancy.
On Wednesday, keepers at the Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, New York, gave an update on pregnant April the Giraffe, calling the birth of her second calf “imminent.” The most recent update stated that April’s udders have filled and she’s producing a “yellow/cloudy” discharge — signs that she is almost “there.” “Now of course ‘there’ could be hours, a day or so, perhaps,” the post read. “What I will promise, it won’t be two months of waiting!”
Those who cannot stay glued to their computers around the clock have the advantage of signing up for a text message alert at aprilthegiraffe.com which will be sent out immediately once active labor has begun.
In 2017 the world became obsessed with April and thousands upon thousands tuned in for the two months awaiting the arrival of her fourth calf, Tajiri.
According to Google, April’s stream received more than 232 million live views, which added up to 7.6 billion minutes of live watch-time. On the day April welcomed her baby boy to the world, more than 14 million people tuned in, with 1.2 million from around the world watching the actual birth as it happened.
