Ashton Kutcher interview

Ashton Kutcher In Hot Water After Resurfaced Comments About Hilary Duff

Ashton Kutcher and his wife Mila Kunis made headlines after they sent the court letters of support for their former co-star Danny Masterson. The actor was convicted of sexual assault and was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison. After news of Kutcher and Kunis’ letters hit the internet, many fans called them out for supporting a man convicted of sexual crimes. However, Kutcher is in hot water yet again after some problematic comments about Hilary Duff and the Olsen twins resurfaced.

Ashton Kutcher once said he was waiting for Hilary Duff, Olsen twins to turn 18

Back in Kutcher’s earlier days in Hollywood his star rose thanks to an MTV show called “Punk’d.” On the series, he came up with elaborate pranks to trick his famous friends. Fans loved the show. During one episode of the show, the “Butterfly Effect” actor spoke about Duff, who was at the center of one of his pranks.

“She’s one of the girls that we’re all waiting for to turn 18,” Ashton Kutcher said of a then 15-year-old Hilary Duff in a 2003 episode of the show. “Along with the Olsen twins,” he added, referring to former “Full House” stars Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.

The clip resurfaced on Twitter this week after Kutcher’s controversial comments about Danny Masterson in his courtroom letter. Of course, some fans were not thrilled with the actor’s comments about Duff and the Olsen twins.

Fans speak out about Ashton Kutcher’s comments

“Ugh! Who else remembers how unapologetically creepy dudes were about girls “finally turning 18!” The early 2000s were wild! (As in gross),” one fan tweeted. “I’m actually disappointed,” another stated. “This was somehow normal in the early 2000s,” third user wrote. Meanwhile, others reminded fans that Kutcher was simply telling a joke that passed as funny at the time.

“I lived during this time. The inflection in his voice means it’s a joke. 90s humor was brash and raunchy—so was content, and you know what—no one died,” another person commented. “2000’s was a different time and place, different culture, no social media or platforms where things like these were discussed and dissected. And there was definitely no “cancel culture”. We, as a society have progressed mostly for the good but in the process of that it has also become highly toxic. Duff (16) was in a relationship with Joel Madden (25), and they have remained friends to this day. Kutcher has an organization combatting human trafficking. Allow people to grow and make changes without coming at them with a pitchfork for everything they’ve done and said 20 years ago,” another person explained.

Following news of Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis’ character letters for Danny Masterson, the couple issued a public apology. Although they didn’t apologize for supporting their friend, they did recognize the victims.
