Cleveland Browns starting quarterback Baker Mayfield recently stated in an interview that teams with more vaccinated players and staff have an edge over teams who have a low number of vaccinated players and personnel. “It’s a competitive advantage, but it’s also way more than that. It’s about safety, just general health and well-being of human life,” according to Pro Football Talk.
Mayfield also goes on to talk about how many young and healthy people think that if they get Covid it will not be as bad as they say and that might be the case but Baker also talks about the people who are not young or healthy and how it could be life-threatening to them and that is another reason he chose to get vaccinated. On top of that Mayfield said he feels like it is the right thing to do not just so he can play every game but so he can protect the people around him as well as himself.
Back to the football talk, Baker Mayfield believes that he and his teammates getting vaccinated is just another box checked to potentially winning the city and fans of Cleveland its long-awaited SuperBowl trophy. He has also made it very clear he wants to win in Cleveland and will do whatever it takes to get the Cleveland Browns to the Super Bowl.
Baker Mayfield weighs in on COVID-19 pandemic
Mayfield was drafted number one overall by the Browns out of Texas Tech in the 2018 NFL draft. He would then get his chance to shine later that season as Mayfield played in his first NFL game in Week 3 against the New York Jets, replacing an injured Tyrod Taylor with the Browns down 14–0. Mayfield went 17 of 23, passing for 201 yards as the Browns came back and prevailed 21–17, ending their winless streak at 19 games.
As the Cleveland Browns go into the season they have a lot of hype surrounding them and a lot of people expecting them to do great things. It will be very interesting to see how they handle this pressure and if they will live up to all of the expectations. But as for right now, all the fans of the organization and its player can do is wait until week one to see how thor Cleveland Browns will fare against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Even with the season starting against formidable opponents these players have all the faith of a whole city behind them and It would not be a surprise if the Cleveland Browns took the league by storm in this coming season.
