A “Big Bang Theory” lawsuit has erupted over the show’s classic Sheldon Cooper lullaby, “Soft Kitty,” which is now claimed to be a rip off of a 1937 poem about a soft kitty.

According to USA Today, the “Big Bang Theory” lawsuit over “Soft Kitty” claims that the lyrics are a copyright violation of a poem written by Edith Newlin in 1937, which contains begins, “Warm kitty, soft kitty, little ball of fur,” which is nearly identical to Sheldon’s favorite song titled “Soft Kitty,” which beings “Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur.”
Now, Edith Newlin’s daughters have filed a lawsuit against “The Big Bang Theory” for stealing the words and not crediting their mother for her work.
“The Soft Kitty lyrics are among the best-known and most popular aspects of The Big Bang Theory,” the lawsuit states. “They have become a signature and emblematic feature of the show and a central part of the show’s promotion.”
