The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki lost his home in a huge fire on Monday. The actor, who owns a California ranch, had his home burn to the ground in a fire that is also leaving other people’s homes in jeopardy as well.

According to People Magazine, California residents are calling the fire “The Hill Fire,” and it is estimated to span about 1,500 acres in size. The fire started as two smaller fires, but merged into one as California’s fire season begins.

Around 250 people were evacuated from their houses on Monday and all the roads leading to the area of Johnny Galecki’s house were closed due to the flames. The Big Bang Theory actor will be able to return to the ranch to collect any remaining memorabilia once the roads are opened again.

Johnny Galecki released a statement to TMZ about the loss of his home to the fire saying, “My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire, the threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile.”

The Big Bang Theory star went on to say,  “It’s never the structures that create a community — it’s the people. And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it’s that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it’s a time to reach out and rebuild.”

Finally, Johnny Galecki added that he believes the experience will make the community even stronger than it already was, and that he is relieved that no one was hurt in the fire, thanking the fire department and sheriffs who evacuated and help control the situation.
