Could ‘Big Little Lies’ Get A Season 2?
“Big Little Lies” has fans addicted. However, the HBO limited series, which is based off of the novel of the same titled by Liane Moriarty, is about to end. This week marks the finale of the show, which was only set to be a handful of episodes following the premise of the book. However, fans are already calling for a Season 2 of the Reese Witherspoon/Nicole Kidman/Shailene Woodly drama.
If you haven’t been watching “Big Little Lies” you’re missing out. The show centers around a group of well-off mothers from Monterrey who are a little too involved with their children’s lives, and are also hiding some seriously juicy secrets. Reese Witherspoon plays the alpha mom, Shailene Woodly is the new, single mom in town, and Nicole Kidman’s character is the seemingly perfect woman, wife, and mother, although she’s harboring a disturbing secret. Fans are beginning to really dive into these characters and now the show is coming to an end. It hardly seems fair.
While TV Line reveals that a “Big Little Lies” Season 2 is not likely to happen, there is hope. The series, although based on a stand alone book, could diverge from the source material and take on a life of its own. Meanwhile, the show’s stars, Witherspoon, Kidman, and Woodly, all raved about working together, and while they do have lucrative film careers, could probably get a Season 2 made if they really wanted it. It was, however, Reese and Nicole who optioned the rights to the novel. They also serve as executive producers. So, lets make this happen, ladies!
