“Big Little Lies” fans are getting an amazing gift in Season 2. Actress Meryl Streep is joining the cast of powerhouse women, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley for an epic second season of the HBO limited series.
According to Us Weekly, Meryl Streep, arguably the best actress of all time, will join the cast in the role of Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Alexander Skarsgard’s character, Perry Wright. As many “Big Little Lies” fans will remember from Season 1, Perry would often physically abuse his wife Celeste (Kidman), and leave her an emotional wreck. By the end of the series, it was revealed that Bonnie (Kravitz) pushed Perry over the balcony at Trivia Night and he fell to his death.
Meryl Streep’s character will come to Monterey searching for answers about her son’s death, and to make sure that her twin grandsons are okay after losing their beloved father. It seems that Mary Louise may learn some harsh truths about her son from Celeste, and it should be interesting to see Streep in the role of a grieving mother trying to come to terms with the fact that her son was abusive. Thankfully, Alexander Skarsgard will return to play Perry, likely in flashback scenes, so more disturbing and violent images could be coming our way.
Beyond thrilled to have the one, the only, Meryl Streep joining the cast of #BLL for season 2. Get ready for more wine, secrets, and Big Little Lies. Monterey better watch out!!! pic.twitter.com/VWYcUl7rzd

It seems safe to say that Meryl will be sharing most of her scenes with Nicole Kidman, and fans are beyond excited to see what the next chapter of this haunting drama will bring for all of the characters.
Despite doing major casting and getting their ducks in a row, HBO won’t be able to begin airing “Big Little Lies” Season 2 until sometime in 2019, leaving viewers waiting a long time for the answers they’ve been seeking since the Season 1 finale.
