Big Little Lies Season 3 is a go. At least, according to Nicole Kidman. The HBO series based on the book by Liane Moriarty had a stellar cast that included Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and Meryl Streep. Here’s what we know.
Nicole Kidman drops a huge Big Little Lies Season 3 bombshell
During a recent event in Florida, Nicole Kidman opened up about “Big Little Lies.” The actress revealed exactly why she loved filming the limited series with her fellow female-empowered cast members.
“I loved ‘Big Little Lies’ because it sort of came along at a time in my life when I had my children and I was thinking I was going to retire,” Kidman explained, per Deadline. “And then this situation came along where Reese Witherspoon and I were able to produce that show and create that show and then all of you watched it and made it a massive success.
During her comments, Kidman also made the big Season 3 announcement. “And we will be bringing you a third one, just FYI. Yeah,” she declared.
The first season aired in 2017
It’s been years since “Big Little Lies” first aired on HBO. The first season was a success in 2017, and Season 2 followed in 2019. The show follows the dramatic lives of a handful of mothers living in the town of Monterey, California. The wealthy town holds a lot of secrets, including murder.
Since the end of Season 2, fans have been wondering if a third season would ever come to fruition. However, the rumors have been up and down, especially after the death of the show’s director, Jean-Marc Vallee.
“We talked about doing a Season 3 a lot. Unfortunately, Jean-Marc Vallée, our incredible director, passed away this last year. It’s heartbreaking. I can’t imagine going on without him. He really was the visionary for that show. Unfortunately, it’s done,” Zoe Kravitz told GQ in 2022.

What would Big Little Lies Season 3 look like?
However, the cast and crew may have changed their minds about returning for a third installment. In addition, it’s unclear what a Season 3 might look like. The main characters’ children have grown immensely since Season 2 ended. So, a time jump may be in order.
Of course, there is no book to adapt the scripts from. However, Liane Moriarty would likely be able to help with character and story development.
HBO has made no official announcement about the possibility of “Big Little Lies” Season 3. However, fans are already buzzing about seeing Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Kravitz, Shailene Woodley, and Laura Dern back together again.
