Bob Dylan made a rare appearance on the final Late Night With David Letterman Show to give the late night talk show host a final farewell.

Letterman a huge fan of Bob Dylan, considers the “Like A Rolling Stone” hitmaker “the greatest songwriter of modern times.” So it only fitting that the singer Bob Dylan, see David Letterman off to retirement.

The song was chosen is a favorite of Dylan’s off of his Sinatra-inspired 2015 LP “Shadows in the Night”. Dylan has not been a gust on Letterman since 1993, months after the Late Show began airing. When introducing Bob Dylan, David shared an amusing story about himself, his son and Bob saying,”I spend a lot of time, like everyone does, driving around with my son Harry, and sometimes you take an opportunity to teach him or reinforce things for him.

And I say, ‘Harry, what are the two most important things to know in the world,'” Letterman said in introducing Dylan. “‘One, you have to be nice to other people,’ and what’s the other one? The greatest songwriter of modern times is Bob Dylan. That’s all you need to know in life.”

Bob Dylan has been just one of the most memorable celebrity guests that have come out this week to honor David Letterman as he winds up his 33-year career and enters retirement.
