The NFL season opener between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers started with controversy. During the National Anthem Bronco’s wide receiver, Brandon Marshall was seen kneeling. It seems Marshall is showing support for his fellow NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who decided to sit during the Star Spangled Banner in protest of social injustice of African-Americans and other minorities.
Brandon Marshall Kneels During National Anthem During Week 1 Of NFL Season
According to People Magazine, Brandon Marshall, who was the college teammate of Colin Kaepernick, wanted to support the NFL quarterback’s beliefs, and decided to take a knee during the anthem. Of course, many fans have various opinions on the movement.
The hashtag #BoycottNFL began trending on Twitter, as some fans say they don’t want to watch athletes in their refusal to honor their flag and country during the National Anthem.
Dear players,

Colin Kaepernick Causing Fans To Boycott The NFL?
Meanwhile, other fans believe that the boycott of the NFL over Colin Kaepernick and Brandon Marshall’s refusal to stand for the National Anthem is laughable. Especially since the league has allowed players who have committed serious crimes to return to the field.
If you #boycottNFL over Kaepernick speaking abt racial injustice & not over the NFL allowing domestic abusers to play, reevaluate your life.

With more games coming in the opening week of the NFL on Sunday and Monday, it seems likely that fans will see even more athletes standing with Kaepernick in his protest of social injustice.
