Bridgerton fans have binged the first season of the Netflix breakout hit, and they are wanting more. The good news is that the series has been renewed for Season 2. However, it’s currently unknown when the show may film those episode, or what a timeline for a premiere could be.
While there are many questions about how Season 2 could shake out, we do have a bit of an idea about what to expect. Since the show is based off of a popular book series, the second book offers some big clues.
Bridgerton Season 2 will focus on Anthony
The second novel follows the character of Anthony Bridgerton as he struggles to find love and settle down in London. Actor Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony on the show, is now dishing about Season 2.
“Well, I feel like the campy, plush spectacle of the Bridgerton world is only going to get more pronounced in the best way possible,” he told British Vogue.
“It’s mad, and it’s brilliant. There are also going to be a lot of brilliant characters introduced in this series — and it’s not just Anthony that we’re going to delve into.”
In addition, Bailey says that the show’s co-producer Shonda Rhimes and creator Chris Van Dusen have big plans that will “expand and keep pushing boundaries.”
“There’s just going to be more of what everyone loves, I think,” Jonathan promised Bridgerton fans, adding that there will be a “much broader sense of who Anthony is.”
“There’s a real humanity to him, too, that will hopefully come out in the next series. It’s funny because even though Bridgerton is obviously a period drama, Anthony’s story is quite modern in the sense that he’s reached a point where he genuinely believes that love will never happen for him. That’s where he is at the end of the first series, and that’s such a common feeling right now,” Bailey admits.
Jonathan says that there will be plenty of “Easter eggs” for fans of the books to enjoy as well. He also told viewers to “watch out for bees,” as they play a significant role in the series.

During the first season of Bridgerton, fans got a glimpse into the lives of Anthony’s younger sister, Daphne, as she fell in love with the Duke of Hastings in a steamy and provocative storyline.
