Britney Spears has lost her bid to have her father, Jamie Spears, dropped as her conservator. The “Toxic” singer had her application denied by a Los Angeles court on Tuesday. This has prompted her refusal to perform in public.

According to Fox News, Jamie has been his daughter’s conservator since 2008 when the singer suffered a very public mental breakdown. He and attorney Andrew Wallet shared in the duties. However, Wallet resigned from the position in 2019, leaving Jamie as the sole conservator over Britney’s finances.

Britney Spears’ dad will remain a conservator

Brit has been trying to have her father removed from his position of power over her for months. However, on Tuesday judge Brenda Penny opted to deny her request, but didn’t rule out future petitions to suspend the conservatorship.

After finding out the news, Britney’s lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham Penny that the singer will never perform in public again as long as her dad is in control of her finances and career.

“My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father. She will not perform again if her father is in charge of her career.”

Meanwhile, Jamie is no longer solely in charge. The financial company Bessemer Trust has been appointed co-conservator.

At the time, Kevin was said to be furious with his former father-in-law, and reported the incident to the courts. Around that time, Kevin was awarded 70 percent custody of both he and Britney’s sons.
