With the NFL’s week, one right around the corner The Cleveland Browns find them selfs in an awkward position as they will be facing their former starting quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers in their first game.
With that being said how will the defense feel about going head to head with their former quarterback? Cleveland Browns’ star defensive end Myles Garrett speaks on how he feels about playing Baker Mayfield week on.
“He’s my former teammate,” Garrett said Tuesday to the media. “But there’s no rivalry between me and him and there’s no rivalry between the Panthers and the Browns. Yes, he was here, but that doesn’t mean I have an added sense of urgency to get to him. I want to play my best and whatever’s in the cards, that’s it for me. If I can help my team win. If I can put them in the best position to win, I’m going to do that and if I can get a couple of sacks along the way, I would kind of enjoy that too.” according to Si.com.
Garrett has his eyes on the prize for week one
Myles Garrett is only focused on helping the Browns win. He is not fazed by playing a former teammate with that he shared a locker room with he just wants to put the Cleveland Browns in the best situation to win the game and move on to the next one.
Garrett has yet to play a preseason game but he really does not need to. It is yet to be seen if he will suit up in the last practice run against the Chicago Bears or not. Myles Garrett has always been a leader for not just the defense but for the whole team ever since he was drafted with the first overall pick in 2017.
Since Garrett was drafted by the Browns he has played in three pro bowl games and he also holds the record for all-time sacks in a single season by a Cleveland Brown. Myles Garrett is a fan favorite for all the hard work he puts in on and off the field as well as everything he does for the city of Cleveland.
How will Garrett react if he sacks Mayfield?
In this week one matchup we will finally get to see how Myles Garrett really feels about Baker Mayfield if he can get to him for a sack. But as for now, we will all have to wait and see what happens as the NFL’s week one continues to get closer and the fans’ excitement gets to be higher.
