The Sixth Sense star Bruce Willis‘ family recently shared a heartbreaking health update revealing that the actor’s health has worsened. In early 2023, Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, and until recently, he had been managing as well as expected. But things have rapidly changed, and according to family members, things look pretty grim.
Bruce Willis was initially diagnosed with aphasia, a brain disorder that has robbed him of his ability to communicate and forced him into early retirement. Sadly, months later, Bruce was hit with another medical blow. He was also diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. According to The Mirror, the actor has put up a brave fight; however, his health has recently declined.
Until now, the Willis family, which includes Bruce’s current wife, Emma, and their two young daughters, Mable and Evelyn, his three older daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah; his granddaughter, Louetta, and his ex-wife, Demi Moore, have united to care for Bruce.
However, his disease has progressed to the point where the actor also now requires an around-the-clock in-home care team. This leaves his loved ones fearing that they may not have much time left with him. They are afraid that as the disease progresses, the actor may not make it to his 70th birthday in March.
Bruce Willis’ Family Vows To Stay By His Side
The Hollywood icon rarely leaves the house anymore. However, on a rare day that he does, the actor seems to enjoy a leisurely drive. Sources state, “He rarely goes out, but when he does, it’s a carefully orchestrated operation,” explains the source. He needs help getting ready and getting to the car.
“Bruce has caretakers with him “24/7 who supervise him and make sure he’s OK and doesn’t get confused or flustered,” adds the source, noting the actor “has bodyguards to buffer him from the public.” Bruce’s family spends as much time as possible with him daily, often in shifts.
The group of women have formed a close-knit relationship, prioritize tending to Bruce, and make each moment together a special and loving memory. It is difficult for Bruce’s loved ones to see him so vulnerable and dependent,” says the source.
However, despite the sadness, the family has come to terms with the inevitable and wants to make each day together count. “There are painful days. But there’s so much love,” claims daughter Tallulah Willis. But in the end, that is all anyone can ever really hope for.
