Can Durant And Irving Make Things Work After Durant Decides To Give Brooklyn Another Shot?

Earlier today it was announced by the Brookly Nets’ General Manager Sean Marks that Kevin Durant and the Nets will be moving forward with each other for the upcoming season in order to chase a championship.

After a long few months of Kevin Durant wanting out of Brooklyn via trade due to some differences between himself and 7-time all-star and one-time NBA Champion point guard Kyrie Irving. Irving last season barely played any games due to not being vaccinated and that is also the reason James Harden requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets.

Brooklyn’s GM stated that he and head coach Steve Nash net with Kevin Durant and his manager in Los Angeles yesterday and decided to move forward with their partnership and have one common goal in mind which is to bring a Championship to Brooklyn.

Trouble in Brooklyn?

All the drama was stated when Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Nets on June 30th. He then gave Brooklyn an ultimatum where they either lost Durant or fired Steve Nash and Sean Marks.

Nobody knows for sure why Durant wanted out but his trade request came at a weird time as it was days after his teammate Kyrie Irving opted into his contract to stay with the team through the 2022-23 NBA season. Many fans believe there might be some internal issues between Irving and Durant but nothing is for sure.

Will Durant and Irving be able to set aside their differences in order to get the Nets back on track? The main problem was Kyrie not being able to play any home games last year due to New York’s vaccine mandate. This could have caused the Nets a lot of winnable games as well as given them more wins so they would not have to play in the play-in tournament.

How will things end up?

It will be very interesting to see how the Brooklyn Nets handle this situation as a team with a healthy and cooperative Kyrie Irving and a fully focused Kevin Durant is a scary team coming out of the Eastern Conference.

Nets fans can only wait and see what will happen as we draw closer and closer to the start of the NBA pre-season but only time will tell what will happen between Irving and Durant. Will they be able to figure it out and take the Brooklyn Nets on a deep playoff run or even a championship? Or will the drama consume what is left of their bond as teammates and take the nets down with it?
