Carrie Underwood was noticeably absent from the CMAs this week. The singer not making an appearance at the award show has some fans wondering if it has to do with the rumors that her marriage to Mike Fisher is struggling.
Why wasn’t Carrie Underwood at the CMAs?
OK! Magazine reports that Carrie Underwood didn’t attend the Country Music Awards on Wednesday. Her absence was a bit questionable, especially since she was nominated for Entertainer of the Year. However, the award later went to her fellow female singer, Lainey Wilson. Some wondered if Underwood’s decision not to show up at the CMAs may have to do with the rumors surrounding her marriage to Mike Fisher.
Hollywood News Daily previously reported that Underwood and Fisher may be struggling in their relationship due to the singer’s Las Vegas residency. Underwood has extended her time on the Vegas stage, and Fisher is said to be unhappy about the career move.
“Mike is not happy Carrie extended her residency,” an insider told Life & Style. “He’s very traditional, and while he loves that Carrie has a career, he believes her role as a wife and mother should be a priority. Mike just wants Carrie to come home.” The source added that Underwood did talk over her plan with Fisher. However, he wasn’t on board with her decision. “He wasn’t really expecting her to want to stay in Vegas.”
Carrie and Mike’s parenting setup revealed
One of the reasons why Mike Fisher is said to be upset by Carrie Underwood’s decision to extend her residency has to do with their children. The couple share two sons together, Isaiah and Jacob. Sources reveal that Fisher’s been a full-time parent to the boys while Underwood has been busy expanding her career.
“He didn’t sign up to be the full-time parent, and he’s annoyed she’s missed family events,” says the insider. “It’s definitely a bump in the road. But they’ll get through this.”
