With the 2021-2022 NBA season rapidly approaching the Cleveland Cavaliers have a very promising young core. One player in that young core is projected to have a breakout season this year is Isaac Okoro.

One of Cleveland’s assistant coaches, JJ Outlaw, is very excited about Okoro in the upcoming NBA season. “He’s extremely dynamic, Outlaw said. So the same things that you see from him when he’s on the wings, or when he’s off the ball, those attacks downhill, the pressure that he can put on the paint, he can do those things when he has the ball in his hands as well. I think he’s just getting more reps and being comfortable handling the ball and getting us organized,” via Cavaliers Nation.

As the head coach of Cleveland’s summer league team Outlaw has gotten a close-up look at how much Isaac Okoro has improved and he says he is ready to help make a big difference on the floor in the regular season. Isaac Okoro played two summer league games this year and through those two games, he averaged 16 points per game, 4 rebounds per game, 2 assists per game, and shot 59 percent from the field.

During the 2020-2021 regular season the young forward showed a lot of promise as he averaged 9 points per game, 3 rebounds per game, 1 assist per game, and hit 49 percent of his shots. Isaac Okoro only has room to get better and grow as a player and it will be very interesting to see what he does on the court this season for the Cavaliers.

With player development being a priority for the Cavaliers, Okoro feels he will have all the time and resources he will need to become a star in this league. The Cavaliers arguably have one of the brightest futures in the NBA and are planning on being back in the playoffs no later than the 2022-2023 season.

The Cavs are loaded with young talent and Isaac Okoro is one of the players that will help this team go beyond expectations in the coming years. It will be very interesting to see how things change in the coming seasons and if the young Cavaliers can make a playoff push. But for now, we will have to wait and see how the upcoming season turns out with the addition of the third overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft Evan Mobley and the potential breakout player Isaac Okoro.
