Sons of Anarchy fans have been hearing rumors about the show getting getting a reboot, prequel series, and sequel series. However, nothing has been set in stone as of yet. With all of the buzz that is constantly circulating, fans have been wondering if actor Charlie Hunnam would ever return to the franchise to reprise the beloved character of Jax Teller.
Warning: Sons of Anarchy spoilers below.
During a recent interview with People Magazine, Hunnam was asked outright if he would ever consider bring Jax back. Sadly, friends that were holding out hope for Jax’s return can put their hope to rest. The actor confirmed that he would never slip back into Jax’s shoes for any reason.
“I would never, ever put that cut back on. I would never put his rings back on. Not even for Halloween,” he stated. “It was a very deep experience. I lived with that character inside me for years, like, in a very real way. In a way that manifested in ways that I could never even [have] imagined. He’s dead now. So there would be no ever bringing him back. When he died, he died.”
Hunnam is best known portraying Jax on all seven seasons of the series. The character was the tortured leader of the motorcycle club, who suffered heartbreak after heartbreak while trying to keep his illegal business going, take care of his family, and deal with the drama inside his club.
Sons of Anarchy premiered on FX back in 2008. The series included 92 episodes before ending its run in 2014 with an emotional finale that saw Jax Teller’s heartbreaking death unfold. Following the end of the show, Hunnam went on to star in films such as Triple Frontier, Crimson Peek, and The Gentlemen.
“I had this realization between SOA and Mayans. That the SOA mythology would be four shows,” Sutter said in response to a fan.
Earlier this year, the show’s creator, Kurt Sutter, revealed that he has a vision of how the franchise would play out, which includes four shows. Sons of Anarchy was one of those shows. Its spinoff Mayans MC, which will air its third season this year, is another.
Another show would be a prequel series tilted First Nine. The show would follow the original members of SAMCRO, which included Jax’s father, John Teller, as well as Clay Morrow. The events in the show would take place before Jax’s birth.
“It would end before we began to tread on history we created in Sons,” Sutter confirmed.
The final show is being called Sam Crow. It would be a sequel series that followed the events of Sons of Anarchy. The storyline would reveal what happened to Wendi and Nero as they fled town with Jax’s two sons, Abel and Thomas.
