Christine McVie Dead: Fleetwood Mac Band Member Passes Away at 79

Fleetwood Mac member Christine McVie has died. The singer and songwriter’s death was tragically reported on November 30. According to BBC, the British icon wrote some of the band’s hit songs such as “Little Lies” and “Don’t Stop.”

According to a statement by her family, McVie died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. “We would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally,” the family’s statement reads. Christine McVie was a member of Fleetwood Mac for nearly 30 years before officially hanging up her microphone and retiring from the music business in 1998. However, she did return to the band in 2014.

Christine McVie joined Fleetwood Mac in 1971. She was also known for being married to the band’s bassist, John McVie. The band enjoyed extreme levels of fame in the 1970s and 1980s, and had fans hooked with their epic lyrics and music, as well as their personal relationships, such as the band’s stars Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. One of the band’s most popular albums, “Rumours,” was inspired by Buckingham and Nicks’ split, as well as the end of Christine and John’s marriage.
