CLE Guardians Pitcher Zach Plesac Has Been Dumped By His Agents

Zach Plesac came up into the major league scene as a top pitching prospect for the Cleveland Guardians. Plesac burst into the MLB on fire after his well-known right-handed pickoff move that got more runners than any other pitcher a few seasons ago.

Zach Plesac has been struggling the last two seasons with injuries and his game. It now seems that Plesac has become more trouble than he is worth as his agents at Creative Artists Agency have dumped him.

Plesac had injured himself again in August by punching the mound after allowing a home run while facing the Seattle Mariners. Zach suffered a broken hand as result and has not played a game since as he has been recovering. The incident where the injury occurred can be seen here via Twitter.

Not Zach’s first time in the headlines

It is not very often that you see agencies cut ties with a young player like Zach Plesac. Plesac has a 4.39 ERA this season and a 4.6 ERA in his career. The 27-year-old right-handed pitcher was set to see a pay bump next season due to entering arbitration, he is also set to be a free agent in 2025. This is not the first time Zach Plesac has had a bad headline. His first came back in August of 2020 which was the start of the MLB’s return after its Covid-19 break.

Zach was placed on the MLB’s three-day quarantine list after he broke the league’s rules and went out on the town after a start in Chicago. Mike Clevinger was quarantined for the same reason. The team was not happy with this as one player even told the media that “They Lied to us.”

It would only get worse when Plesac posted on Instagram trying to defend his night out and blaming the media for supposedly embellishing the story while confirming every reported detail.

Is Plesac on a bad road?

The news that Zach Plesac’s agents dropped him is shocking but if you stop to look at the situation he puts himself in on and off the field it starts to make sense. Plesac has shown that he can be very unprofessional as well as just plain dumb in regards to how he conducts himself.

Nobody wants to see such a young player head down a bad road but that is exactly where Zach Plesac is going. If he does not realize this soon it might be too late and the next thing to go could be his career.
