DeAndre Hopkins holding a football
DHOP

The Cleveland Browns have had a very solid offseason with their free-agent signings. They are now looking to add one more big piece before the season starts. That piece could very well be WR DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins and Watson were teammates for a while in Texas. Now with the recent news that the Cardinals have released the WR the Browns could be in play.

What Does Watson Think?

“Me and DHop, we talk (all the time). He’s been a brother of mine for a long time,” Watson said, via Zac Jackson of The Athletic. “I know there’s things swirling around and my answer to that is of course we would love to have him.” as reported by SI.com

The rumors have really been swirling and Watson as well as everyone else has seen that. Deshaun did say it was out of his hands though. If the Cleveland Browns were to make a move on DHop he would most definitely be welcomed with open arms. Cleveland checks every box for what Hopkins wants. He wants to play for a good quarterback and he wants to win. The Cleveland Browns are set to do both of those things this season.

Between the years of 2017-19, DeAndre Hopkins had 4,115 receiving yards and a big 31 touchdowns. Deshaun Watson has made his stance on the matter known. As Cleveland’s highest-paid player, his thoughts should be taken into consideration on who the team outs around him. Now, only time will tell if the Cleveland Browns are serious about the 30-year-old wide receiver.

The Browns’ wide receiver room is not short on players. With Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones leading the way last year and the new talent Cleveland has brought in there might not be room for Hopkins. Money is another factor. DeAndre should be able to at least command the same amount that the Ravens paid OBJ (1 year 15 million).

Watson Wants Hopkins In CLE

If The Cleveland Browns want DeAndre Hopkins they will have to act fast before a rival team comes and scoops him up. His connection with Deshaun Watson may be enough to sway his decision if the Browns reach out. A duo of Cooper and Hopkins could be an amazing one-two punch for the Browns.

With what little information there is right now it is hard to say if the Cleveland Browns are truly interested. As the story develops we will be sure to keep you all updated. Will the Browns Listen to Their quarterback? Or will they go another route? Only time can tell.
