As soon as DeAndre Hopkins became a free agent, The Cleveland Browns were very much in play to land the star WR. His relationship with QB Deshaun Watson, and Cleveland’s talent pool seemed perfect for the former pro-bowler. Hopkins recently had a visit with the Tennessee Titans. It was said the visit went well but no deal was struck. Hopkins will now go visit with the New England Patriots. There is optimism there that a deal will be made.  As reported by SportsIllistrated.com.

Where Will D-Hop Land?

DeAndre Hopkins is a free agent for the first time in his career after being cut by the Arizona Cardinals. The Patriots have about $14 million in cap space and it may take it all to bring in Hopkins. In just nine games last season Hopkins totaled up 700 receiving yards, showing he can still play at a high level. It seems like the chances of Watson and Hopkins playing together in CLE are about zero. It seems to be up to the Titans and the Patriots, with New England having the momentum. What Will Hopkins’ contract look like?

Luckily for the Cleveland Browns, they still have Amari Cooper and Donovan People-Jones. It was likely that if D-Hop came to Cleveland that DPJ would be on his way out. This is not a huge loss for Cleveland as they still have a fairly talented WR room. It has been reported that Deshaun Watson has looked fantastic as well.

With a fully re-equipped Watson and the weapons the Browns have put around him Cleveland looks dangerous. This is the season that Cleveland needs to prove that they are a good team. We saw flashes of greatness from them as Watson was trying to shake the rust off last season, but it is go time now.

Cleveland Will Be Fine Without Hopkins

The Cleveland Browns have the talent to be a championship team. They have gone out and fixed the holes in their defense this offseason. Now, it is time for them to show the rest of the league that they are here to play. Cleveland is looking to get back to the playoffs this year to make some noise. It will be very interesting to see if they make any more moves or if their roster is set. With Hopkins closing in on a team who else could the Browns bring in to get them where they want to go? Only time will tell.
