Cleveland Browns: What To Expect Between Watson And Cooper

The Cleveland Browns’ roster is filled to the brim with talent. The question is, will they be able to use it? With Watson’s first games with Cleveland, it was unclear if he would return to form. There is optimism in Cleveland that Watson will take this team very far, and he certainly has the talent around him to do it.

Is Cooper The Key?

One of those talents is WR1 Amari Cooper. Cooper was a beast last season for Cleveland, and that was with a backup QB! Amari has had to miss a few workouts and throwing sessions in Houston and Puerto Rico. It was not because he didn’t want to be there though. Cooper underwent a core muscle surgery over the offseason and is just now returning to action. Watson and Cooper have gotten to work together in a post-June minicamp, and Watson had this to say.

“Amari’s going to be good,” Watson told Ashley Bastock of Cleveland.com at the QB’s inaugural high school 7-on-7 tournament on Tuesday. “He’s a guy that’s a vet, been in the league for a while, so he knows exactly what he needs to do to be ready for the season and training camp and our chemistry is going to be tight. We’ve been hanging out, we just going to continue to build that chemistry as much as possible.” as reported by NFL.com

This is great news for the Cleveland Browns organization as well as their fans. The Browns have gone out and filled the holes in their roster this offseason. Bringing in some much-needed help on defense will really round out this roster. Now it is in the hands of Deshaun Watson. If he can get himself back to the player he used to be, the NFL is in trouble! Watson will have a direct effect on how this upcoming season will turn out for Cleveland.

Watson Needs to Ball Out!

It will be very interesting to see how well Cooper and Watson really mesh with a full season together ahead of them. Watson needs to replicate what he had with DeAndre Hopkins to lift this Browns team to the top. It is not just with Cooper either, Donovan Peoples-Jones will have to be a regular target, as well as Nick Chubb out of the backfield. The Cleveland Browns have a chance to do something very special. Some things will have to fall into place but the pieces are most definitely there.
