The Celtics have had a number of disappointing years. From losing in the Finals to flat-out not making them.
Is Jaylen Brown On His Way Out?
The most recent was a Game 7 loss to the Miami Heat Monday night. After the tough loss, Jaylen Brown took to the post-game interviews. Brown was asked about his future with the Celtics and his comments seemed to have a deeper meaning. Brown would go on to talk about how he thought the Celtics would be moving on that night. He also did not rule out leaving Boston in free agency this summer. Brown is eligible for a five-year $295 million contract. According to Cleveland.com. With all of that being said something needs to change in Boston.
How does this affect the Cavaliers? Well, the Cavs’ future depends on their rivals. The Cleveland Cavaliers are a very young team. This squad’s best years are in front of them. As of right now one of the biggest roadblocks in the east for the Cavs is Boston. If Boston loses Jaylen Brown to another team that would be a big hit for them. Not just talent-wise, but also in the locker room.
If the Celtics start to lose their core it is only a matter of time until others start to leave as well. If the Celtics were to implode that means potential free-agent signings or trades for the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers get better while also pushing a big competitor out of the way. The Cleveland Cavaliers are one piece away from being a top team in the NBA. One big trade for signing could propel them to a Championship.
