The Cleveland Cavaliers have selected seven-foot center Evan Mobley with the third overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Cavs’ general manager Koby Altman and head coach J.B Bickerstaff have stated multiple times that “Mobley is the best player in the draft: “He’s 7-foot tall. He can defend, score, handle the ball, and pass. It’s rare for someone his size and age. He takes pride in shutting people down,” reports Cleveland.com.
Some NBA insiders have gone as far as to say Evan Mobley will be Chris Bosh on offense and Anthony Davis on defense. Of course, those are some big names to live up to for a rookie who has not even played an NBA game yet but the Cavs organization has high hopes for their young star.
Looking back at some of Cleveland’s latest draft picks specifically Collin Sexton and Darius Garland. The two young guards did not play very well during their rookie seasons but the past year they’ve really come into their own and are now a formidable backcourt in the NBA.
The Cavs have young talent but they are in desperate need of a young all-star and that could be Evan Mobley. Mobley may have the ability to be the Cavaliers’ second savior, the first one being LeBron James of course. The sky’s the limit for Mobley and he could easily become one of the league’s top talents in a few years. Add the fact that Mobley has a reliable jump shot that will only get better. It is exciting to think about how good he could be and how much he could do for the Cavs organization.
Cavs excited about Evan Mobley
Evan Mobley is one of those rare cases that when he touches the ball something good happens almost every time. That is exactly what Cleveland has been missing, a consistent player that makes things happen. Mobley does not let the game come to him; he goes and gets the game and gets things done.
It will be very interesting to see what impact Mobley’s talents will have on the Cavs and fans of that organization are very excited about the young big man coming to play for the city of Cleveland. But for right now we will have to wait till the summer league games to get a glimpse at Evan Mobley and what he is capable of. We all can’t wait to see Mobley in action and we will get that very soon.
