The Cleveland Cavaliers had their first summer league game of the new season this week and there were plenty of young players looking to show the organization what they could do. First off for the Cavaliers Evan Mobley played his first NBA summer league game and walked away with 12 points and also had some great sequences defensively. Isaac Okoro also impressed fans.

Okoro was the star of the Cavs’ first summer league game. “During Cleveland’s first Summer League game on Sunday, Okoro turned in a solid performance, recording 17 points, three rebounds and two assists. He also shot the ball well, going 7-of-13 from the field and 2-of-6 from three,” per Cavaliers Nation.

Isaac Okoro also showed some flashes of brilliance on the court last season as he had a solid rookie year. The Cavaliers’ training staff believe that Isaac Okoro can become a breakout 2-way star this coming NBA season.

The key is for him to really work on his offensive game as his defense is what the Cavs drafted him for. Okoro has a lot of potential and everyone in the Cavs organization has very high hopes for the 20-year-old in what will be his second year in the NBA.

Last season the young forward averaged 9 points per game, 3 rebounds per game, and 1 assist per game in the 67 games he played in his rookie year. It might not be as flashy as some of the other young players in his draft class like Anthony Edwards or Lamelo Ball but he had an outstanding defensive season.

Isaac Okoro impresses during Cavs summer league

Okoro was put up against the best player on every team the Cavs faced last season and he took the challenge head-on. Okoro went up against players like LeBron James, James Harden, Kevin Durant, and many more great scorers. Even though the Cavs could not close some of those games out Okoro still gave all of those players a lot of trouble while he was their primary defender.

As summer league games continue it will be interesting to see how much more Isaac Okoro will push himself to be the best player on the court. If he can put up numbers like he did yesterday in actual NBA games he will have solidified himself as one of the best young players on the Cavs.

However, for now, we will have to wait and see what Okoro accomplishes in the remainder of his summer league games and then moving on to the regular season.
