According to Cavaliers Nation, “There were rumors earlier this year about the Cavaliers potentially moving on from Allen if Mobley was selected with the No. 3 pick, but a more recent report revealed that Cleveland believes Mobley can play at multiple positions in the frontcourt. If that’s the case, the team could justifiably keep both players.”
With that being said a front-court combination of Mobley and Allen could be deadly on the defensive end as well as the offensive end if Mobley can develop a mid-range game as good as Jarret Allen’s.
Cavs looking to improve with draft pick
Seeing how well Garland and Allen connected last season with only about half of the season working together should be more than enough to get The Cleveland Cavaliers’ front office and its fans excited about Evan Mobley as the 7-footer could thrive playing with Darius Garland. Mobley in his lone season at the University Of Southern California averaged 16 points per game, 8 rebounds per game, and 2 assists per game. He also showed some tremendous athletic ability in his 16 collegiate games which is something a lot of teams look at for a big man in the current NBA.
Either way, you look at it if Cleveland can not trade up for the Detroit Pistons’ number one overall pick they should seriously consider Evan Mobley as he could possibly help turn the franchise around.
This is a very important offseason for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they have the opportunity to make some big strides in their rebuilding process and it all starts on draft night.
