Cobra Kai‘s Robby’s in for a wild ride during Season 4

Tanner made a visible effort not to ruin the upcoming season for fans, but he did offer up some juicy info about Robby and how he strives to convey the emotions of the character.

“I am excited about Season 4 because there‘s this whole new — trying to figure out without giving anything away — but there’s a whole new realm of kind of storyline for me to play with,” he stated.

“Basically, I’ve spent the past few weeks actually doing all this character work, and I’ve got to talk to the creators of where I, you know, where they’re going, what we’re going to do, and it’s — I’m actually very excited about it because there’s a whole new bunch of stuff that I’m going to get to do this season, specifically with character so I’m very excited about it,” Buchanan added.

Tanner admits that he’s very thorough when it comes to keeping all of Robby’s emotions and character growth straight. He even revealed that he likes to keep a journal to help him understand where Robby’s head is during filming, as well as his character’s relationships with the other characters.

“You start writing, and you just write and write and write, and it’s just basically feelings and that way you are locked into it, and you truly understand how you would react in certain situations,” explained Buchanan. “And I kind of do it in a broad sense just because like I said, you know, we’ll kind of get like [script] one and two, and I’ll think that I have a good idea how I’m going to react to something, and then we’ll get [script] three and four, and it’s the complete opposite.”

Robby is looking to take on Daniel & Johnny as a member of Cobra Kai.

As Cobra Kai fans will remember, when we last saw Robby he had teamed up with John Kreese and seemingly become his top student. Season 4 promises to pit Robby against Miguel yet again at the All Valley karate tournament.

Of course, Robby will also be hoping to defeat his former girlfriend Sam, as well as ex-Cobra Kai bully Hawk, all of whom are now being taught by Robby’s former mentor Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and his own father Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), who have combined their dojos to take down Kreese once and for all.

Cobra Kai Seasons 1-3 are currently streaming on Netflix.
