The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently competing in the 2021 NBA Summer League and a few of the team’s young stars are there practicing alongside the summer league roster. It has been reported that Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, and Jarrett Allen have all been working out together every day.
It has been a very busy offseason for the Cavs as they re-signed Jarrett Allen to a monster deal, shopped Sexton to teams around the league, and selected Evan Mobley with the third overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Even with his name in many trade rumors, Collin Sexton was still putting in the work so he could become even more of a key player for the Cavs’ organization.
It is very nice to see the young players with so much determination to become great and to build chemistry with the new players that could end up being their teammates.
Cavs young players looking for improvement this season
“The Cavs finished with a 22-50 record last season after starting off the campaign with a 10-11 record through 21 games. With a core of Sexton, Garland, Allen, Mobley and Isaac Okoro, the Cavs will be hoping that they can make the playoffs during the upcoming 2021-22 season,” reports Cavaliers Nation.
Cleveland being back in the playoffs only a few years after starting their rebuild would be very impressive. If everyone on the team can stay healthy and have a productive year it is a very real possibility. With Mobley and Allen in the starting lineup, they have two great rim protectors and they are both seven-footers that can score the ball easily. Add that with the swift backcourt of Sexton and Garland the Cavs’ young core could be a force to be reckoned with. It should be very interesting to see how well the Cleveland Cavaliers do in the upcoming NBA season.
Even if Cleveland can not make the playoffs this year fans still have a lot to be excited about with their young players. Sexton and Garland both made huge strides in the right direction in their second year and it looks like Issac Okoro might be headed down the same path as well. Jarrett Allen had a great year last season. Even though he came to Cleveland at the trade deadline he meshed very well with the other players especially Darius Garland.
With Allen as his mentor, Evan Mobley will be able to grow and develop into an even better player with the sky being his limit. Cavs fans should be very excited about what is to come for Cleveland basketball.
