With The NBA pre-season coming up fast the Cleveland Cavaliers have a few decisions to make before play starts. One decision would be what to do with guard/Forward Cedi Osman. Osman has been on the Cavs since the 2018-19 season and played with superstar LeBron James his last year with the Cavaliers before he joined the Lakers in Los Angeles.

There has been an uproar in rumors about Osman being traded as the Cavs are somewhat crowded in the wing position and have multiple solid forwards. The question is, where could Osman End up and how soon will he end up there?

Cedi Osman has not really worked out how the Cavaliers’ wanted him to as the 6-foot 7-inches young player averaged 10 points in 22 minutes of play last season while shooting 43 percent from the field and 35 percent from three.

Inconsistencies are killing the Cavs

If Osman is still on the roster at the end of this summer, he will have to compete with Isaac Okoro, Caris LeVert, and rookie Ochai Agbaji for significant playing time.

The Cavs were a middle-of-the-pack team in terms of 3-point shooting in the 2021-22 season, and Osman hasn’t been able to find much consistency with his outside shot in his five years with the team” according to Cavaliers Nation.com

If Cedi Osman is traded that could give the Cavaliers more money to play with and possibly revisit a deal with restricted free agent Collin Sexton. Sexton has not had a lot of offers but he was unhappy with the Cavaliers’ first offer and it seems talks have stalled. The Cavs offered Collin a deal worth $40 million over three years but his camp was not happy with it.

Sexton was a very important piece of the Cavaliers’ fast rebuild as he was their first lottery pick after LeBron James left for L.A. Sexton brought an underdog mentality and lots of hard work to Cleveland which was a great tone setter for the other young lottery picks like Darius Garland and Issac Okoro.

How would they bring back Sexton?

If an Osman deal is made it would not be very surprising for the Cavaliers to try to make it work with Sexton but we will just have to wait and see what happens with Cedi first as that could be the way Sexton gets paid. Osman has been very inconsistent over the years and that could be why he might be on his way out of Cleveland even though most fans see him as a valuable young player.
