Creed 4 will start production in a year

“Creed 4” has been talked about since the release of “Creed III” in March 2023. Fans of the “Rocky” franchise know that multiple movies are part of the deal. The “Creed” films follow the son of the late Apollo Creed and his rise to fame in the boxing world.

This week, producer Irwin Winkler revealed that “Creed IV” is in the works and that Jordan would be back to direct yet again.

“We are planning to do Creed IV right now,” Winkler said, per Deadline. “We have a really good story [and] a really good plot. We got a little delayed because of the strikes, but about a year from now we’re going into pre-production,” he added.

The Creed saga so far

In the first two “Creed” films, fans watched as Adonis teamed up with the iconic Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) to train in hopes of becoming a great boxer. Of course, he did. Rocky taught him everything he could. Adonis learned about himself, his father, and forged an unbreakable bond with Rocky along the way. In addition, he also fell in love.

In the second film, Adonis and Rocky set their sights on the Heavyweight Championship. They were successful, but Adonis had to deal with a lot of personal issues in the process. He welcomed his first child, a daughter who was revealed to be def. He also faced the son of Ivan Drago, the man who killed his father, Apollo, in the ring.

“Creed III” was different as Rocky wasn’t part of the storyline. Stallone turned the reigns over to Jordan fully. In the film, Adonis’ daughter learns about herself and shows and interest in fighting. Meanwhile, an old friend shows up to throw a wrench into Adonis’ life.

“Michael and the creative team had the beautiful vision from the start to create a wholly new and different experience for this movie,” Winker said. “It had to be firmly cemented in what we all [know] the Creed and Rocky movies for … it had to have great action, boxing, but we also really examined what kind of movie we were making,” Winkler said of the most recent film.

What lies ahead in Creed IV?

It remains to be seen what “Creed IV” will entail. However, it will likely focus on Adonis and his family. It may also have something to do with his struggle to choose between fighting and stepping out of the ring forever. Perhaps fans will even see a Rocky cameo.

Fans are now pumped for “Creed 4” and the future of the franchise.
