Dallas Taylor has died at the age of 66. Taylor’s death was confirmed by the former Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young drummer by his wife Patti Mcgovern-Taylor via Facebook reading,

Classic Music drummer Dallas Taylor dies

“This morning at 2:30 am I lost the love of my life Dallas W. Taylor,” she wrote. “He came into my life almost 18 years ago and saved me as much as I may have saved him.”

“To me, he was just a good man, a good friend, a good father, a good grandfather or Pop Pop, a great drummer and much beloved by many,” she continued. “He will be missed beyond words. It is so very hard to imagine my life without him by my side, but I feel his love even as I write these words.”

Crosby, Stills, Nash &Young drummer Dallas Taylor dies unexpectedly

Dallas Taylor a Denver native hit the music scene in the 1960s with the band Clear Light. Later in 1967 Dallas Taylor moved the band to Los Angeles where he later met Stephen Stills just as the folk band Crosby,Stills, Nash & Young were starting off. Stills asked Dallas Taylor to join up with he band to play drums on their first album
“Crosby, Stills & Nash,” which was released in 1969.

In 1970 Taylor continued to play with the band on their follow-up album “Deja Vu” that also included Neil Young as a member. Later that year Taylor also appeared on Still’s first solo album.

Dallas Taylor and Stills continued their friendship and business arrangement s Stills formed the group Manassas in 1972 and 1973, the two would later part ways.

Taylor continued his drumming career performing in 1974 with Van Morrison, following up that stint drumming for Paul Butterfield’s touring band in the mid 70s.
Later in life, Taylor became an alcohol and drug interventionist in Los Angeles. Once credentialed to treat addictions, Dallas Taylor began working with troubled teens before treating adults who struggled in life with drug and alcohol abuse.

Dallas Taylor is survived by his wife Patti, son, Dallas Jr., daughter Lisa and five grandchildren.
