Many players on the Cavs’ roster have very high hopes that this year’s third overall pick Evan Mobley will do great things for the Cleveland Cavaliers. One player in particular though is very impressed with the young center. That player would be Darius Garland. Garland sees it as his job to help develop the 19-year-old seven-footer.
Darius Garland is coming off an amazing year where he improved all aspects of his game greatly. Looking at Evan Mobley, Garland can not believe the unique skill set he possesses at such a young age. “His size is crazy,” Garland said. “He’s only like 19 and he’s a seven-foot athlete. There’s a lot more to come,” he added as reported by Cavs Nation.
The backcourt of Darius Garland and Collin Sexton can be a scary sight. Their speed and craftiness around the basket as well as the ability to shoot lights out from behind the ark is a deadly combination. Add a frontcourt of two seven-footers with Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley the Cavs could be a force to be wrecked with.
Darius Garland has stated that he feels that it is his role to help Evan Mobley adjust to the NBA and to help him grow as a player. Mobley should feel very lucky that not only Darius Garland but Jarrett Allen has also said he wants to help the rookie adjust to the NBA and to being a dominant rim protector in the league.
Darius Garland looks to take Evan Mobley under his wing
It will be very interesting to see how well the Cavs’ organization can prepare Evan Mobley for life in the NBA but he should be just fine with his teammates looking out for him. Cavs fans should be very excited about what is to come in the near future for this team as they have a chance to make some noise in the Eastern Conference.
With Darius Garland looking out and helping Evan Mobley it is very possible that we see Mobley take more three-point attempts as Garland is a great shooter and could help Mobley a lot in that category of the game.
