Darth Vader fans need to revisit one newer Star Wars film. In 2016 Lucasfilms released Rogue One, a Star Wars story. Rogue One happened between the events of Revenge of The Sith and A New Hope. The movie follows an orphan girl named Jyn Erso played by Felicity Jones. At a young age, her father Galen Erso was taken by the empire to help them create their superweapon the Death Star.
It then flashes forwards to Jyn meeting Saw Gerrera, a leading force in the blossoming Rebel Alliance. Gerrera then tells Jyn about the planet-killing weapon as the empire comes out of hyperspace above the planets Saw had been hiding on. Saw then tells Jyn her father is alive as Jyn has to make a daring escape because the empire decided the planet would be a suitable test for their space station.
Jyn then meets Princess Leia Organa, the adopted daughter of Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan. Leia tells Jyn that they know where they can get the plans to the Death Star and that she needs all the help she can get. Jyn, after some convincing, decides to help the rebels and go to Scarif to retrieve the plans. Alongside her are a repurposed imperial security droid and a small army. After sending the plans to a rebel ship above Scarif the Death Star comes out of hyperspace and destroys the planet and kills Jyn Erso.
The Darth Vader scene in ‘Rogue One’ that you need to pay attention to
Then we see some of the same events as the beginning of A New Hope where Vader’s ship overtakes Leia’s and he boards. This is where we get to see the epic hallway scene with Vader mowing down rebel troops with his lightsaber and his power in the dark side of the force.
Many people thought at that moment it was the most important Vader scene in the movie, but there was an even more important scene earlier in the movie. “While the hallway scene may be one of the most outstanding and improving for Vader as a character, it is the scene at Fortress Vader that develops and offers the most insight,” per Screen Rant. The scene on Mustafar as an imperial officer walks in to talk to the dark lord we see him armorless and limitless just floating in his bacta tank. This is an important scene because seeing Vader weak and vulnerable is something that we only saw at the end of Return of The Jedi in Vader’s death scene.
Getting a glimpse of Vader in that weakened state really gives a lot of insight that he was a slave to his suit, his master, and the Darkside. This is why it is the most important Vader scene in Rogue One.
