“Days of Our Lives” viewers have seen many recasts over the decades. Some have been good like Marci Miller’s takeover of Abigail Deveraux and Billy Flynn’s portrayal of Chad DiMera. Meanwhile, other DOOL recasts left some fans seeing red. Kyle Brandt’s version of Philip Kiriakis and Guy Wilson’s version of Will Horton, to name a few. Now viewers are fearing that yet another shocking recast is on the way.
Is Days of Our Lives recasting the role of Gabi Hernandez?
“Days of Our Lives” fans already know that beloved star Camila Banus is very soon exiting the role of Gabi Hernandez. The actress announced the news earlier this year, much to viewers’ sadness. Currently, Gabi is one of Salem’s most central figures. She’s in a relationship with another fan-favorite character, Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash). She’s also been busy with her career as well. Many fans believed that Gabi would be written out in some dramatic way. However, a new casting call may suggest otherwise.
According to TV Season Spoilers, a “DOOL” casting call has gone out looking for an actress who has very similar physical characteristics to Gabi Hernandez. This could mean that the Peacock soap opera is looking to keep Gabi in Salem despite Banus’ exit from the sudser. Of course, recasts are always tricky, and fans can never tell if they’re going to enjoy them or not.
DOOL recently stunned fans with a bold Theresa Donovan recast
Sadly, “Days of Our Lives” fans were recently hit hard by a shocking recast that saw Emily O’Brien move from the role of Gwen to the character Theresa Donovan in the same episode. It was a bold move on the part of the soap, and fans weren’t happy about it. In addition, Jen Lilley, who has played Theresa on and off for several years, also spoke out against the way the show handled the surprising recast.
“Top to bottom, it was just not handled the right way,” Lilley said of the wild recast, per Deadline. “Everybody was mad, because everybody was kind of lied to,” she added. However, Lilley did ask that fans be gentle with O’Brien, revealing there was no bad blood between the two stars.
Meanwhile, fans are confused about “Days of Our Lives” possibly looking to recast Gabi, but not finding a new actress to portray Theresa. It should be interesting to see how things play out in the next few weeks. Sweeps is drawing near and the Salem landscape has changed yet again.
