Days of Our Lives comings and goings reveal that and Eric Brady recast is in the cards. However, before fans of Greg Vaughan freak out about his exit from the Peacock soap opera, let it be known that the recast is simply a temporary one.
At the end of 2022, Vaughan reportedly couldn’t be present for his filming obligations, so the sudser was forced to recast the role. Because the show films about six months in advance, fans will see the recast in August 2023, per Soaps. General Hospital alum Jason Gerhardt has been tapped to play the role of Eric and will appear in just a few episodes. Of course, Days of Our Lives recasts are quite common. Even some of the soap’s most iconic characters have been recast over the years. However, Vaughan will soon be back in the role he’s been playing for over a decade.
Days of Our Lives Comings and Goings Reveal An Eric Brady recast
The reason for the recast is simple. Eric is currently at the center of some very important storylines on Days of Our Lives, and the soap couldn’t wait to film those pivotal scenes. As fans already know, Eric and his girlfriend Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) are currently engaged and planning for a wedding and a baby. However, what Eric doesn’t know is that he’s also the father of Nicole Walker’s (Arianne Zucker) unborn child. Sloan sneakily switched the DNA test results to confirm that EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) was the father when in reality the child was conceived during a one-night encounter between Eric and his ex-wife. While EJ believes that a new DiMera baby is on the way, sadly that isn’t the case.
Eric and Nicole’s relationship has been at the forefront of Days of Our Lives for decades. However, they’ve had a very slow burn when it comes to hitting milestones such as marriage and now a child. Even though they are currently not together, it’s only a matter of time before Sloan’s devious deeds come to light in Salem.
Days of Our Lives spoilers suggest more baby drama ahead
The true heartbreak of Sloan’s secret will be when EJ finds out that Nicole is pregnant with another man’s baby. In addition, Nicole and EJ are also planning for a future together, and the baby bombshell will likely drive Nicole straight back into Eric’s arms.
While some of these scenes will play out with Eric Brady’s recast front and center, others will wait until Greg Vaughan is back in action at Days of Our Lives, so fans needn’t worry about a long-term swap when it comes to the character.
