Steve Burton is leaving Days of Our Lives

According to Soaps, Steve Burton is officially leaving “Days of Our Lives” and the character of Harris Michaels behind. The actor filmed his final scenes in Salem and is saying goodbye to the soap, which gave him an early start in his career back in the late 1980s. Sadly, this means that fans will be seeing Harris’ last days as the episodes continue to play out in 2024.

“Wow. Well, I just shot my final scenes here on ‘Days of Our Lives’ and I just want to say, thank you so much to the cast, to the crew, to Days. It’s been amazing. I can’t believe it’s been a year already! So thank you so much to the fans. I’m always so full of gratitude,” he said in a YouTube video posted by Daily Drama.

What’s next for Burton after leaving Harris Michaels behind?

Fans know that Burton has plenty of options when it comes to his soap opera career. He’s appeared as two beloved characters on both “General Hospital” and “The Young and The Restless.” There’s a possibility that he could return to reprise his roles on either of the sudsers. Of course, there is also “The Bold and the Beautiful” as well. Perhaps he could even find a primetime or streaming gig.

Now, “Days of Our Lives” fans will have to watch Harris’s exit storyline. It’s unclear how he’ll leave Salem, or where that will leave the relationships he’s forged. However, he will certainly be missed by fans.
